The Amadeus Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1995 by its conductor, Freddy Cadena, as a joint project of the Moscow Composers Union and the firm, Amadeus. Freddy Cadena, began his musical education at the National Conservatory in his native Ecuador. He continued his conducting studies as a scholarship student at the Moscow Conservatory College in the class of L.Pavlov, then graduated with honors in choir conducting in the class of B.Kulikov from the Moscow Conservatory of Music, where he studied symphonic and opera conducting in the class of L.Nikolaev. Cadena has participated in master classes in Germany and Spain led by H.Rilling. In addition to his work with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, Cadena performs with the Yurlov Choir and the Symphony Orchestra of the Russian Ministry of Defense. He has conducted the Guayaquil and the National Symphonies (Ecuador), and the Symphonic Band of Aragon Province in Spain, where he leads conducting master classes every year. The Orchestra has won recognition for its performances in such prominent Moscow Halls as the Rachmaninov, and the Small and Large Halls of the Moscow Conservatory, the Concert Hall of the House of Scientists, and others. The orchestra's repertoire includes music from the baroque to the contemporary avant-garde, and frequently performs the music of Moscow composers of many generations, including V.Artemov, M.Vajnberg, E.Kozhevnikova, and others. The compositions of Ernest Bloch often appear on Amadeus' programs with the sponsorship of the American Ernest Bloch Society, with E.Ivanova as soloist in the composer's Concerto Grosso. Other outstanding soloists, including I.Arkhipova, V.Piavko, and V.Krainev, have performed with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra. Young, talented soloists such as O.Tomilova (oboe) and P.Magaev (flute) have appeared with the orchestra, as well as All-Russian competition prizewinners E.Derzhavina (First Prizewinner at the International Bach Piano Competition), R.Zamuruev (violin), I.Zimin (cello), A.Kozlov (saxophone), and O.Biktimirov, solo singer with the Bolshoi Theater. The orchestra also works in close cooperation with E.Sorokina and A.Bachchiev, faculty members of the Moscow Conservatory, as well as musical expert, Z.Dozortseva. The Amadeus Chamber Orchestra has recorded the compositions of Russian and foreign composers in the studios of the Russian Radio. Its CD of Moscow composer, A.Melnikov-Markatov, was recently released in the USA by Sterling Classics. The orchestra is a regular participant in the Moscow Autumn Music Festival, has performed at the Glinka Festival in Smolensk and, in 1996 under the sponsorship of the Russian Copyright Society and Aeroflot Russian International Airlines, performed in Zaragoza, Spain.
