Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Alexei Bruni, was born in 1954 in Tambov. The son of a famous Italian family that settled in Russia in the 1700s, he moved to Moscow in 1963 and graduated from the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory in 1973 in the class of Professor M. Kurdumov. Bruni received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Moscow Conservatory in the class of Professor B. Belenky, and is a laureate of the Jacques Thibaud International Competition (Paris, 1979) and the Niccolò Paganini International Competition (Genoa, 1984). In 1991, Alexei Bruni and conductor, Mikhail Pletnev, co-founded the first independent orchestra in Russia - the Russian National Orchestra; Bruni is presently Concertmaster and Assistant Conductor of the RNO. His activities as recitalist and soloist have taken him throughout the former Soviet Union and beyond, and Bruni has participated in the Rovinj (Croatia), I.Pogorelich (Germany), Passover (St. Petersburg), and the Sydney (Australia) Festivals. Alexei Bruni has given the premieres of numerous contemporary compositions in Russia. He appears frequently on radio and television and has recorded four CDs. Professor of Violin at the Moscow Conservatory, Bruni has also given master classes in Spain, South Korea, Italy, Argentina, Russia, and the USA.
"Alexei Bruni demonstrated the true meaning of technical virtuosity, while, at the same time, communicating a wide range of emotions and taking great joy in his sensitive interplay with his accompanist.
"The audience appreciated the elegance of his playing in the Mozart; his virtuosity in the Weber; and the beauty of his cantabile in the Brahms. "At the end of the concert, the public was enthusiastic, and, after a storm of applause, enjoyed several encores executed with great passion and musicality by the Russian artists."
