Anahit Nersesyan

Anahit Nersisyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, and began displaying musical talent at a very young age. Her formal music studies took place at the Moscow Conservatory, where she worked with Professor Viktor Merjanov. While still a student, she won 1st Prize at the Trans-Caucasian Republics (USSR) Piano Competition and toured throughout the former Soviet Union. In 1980, Ms. Nersisyan won a landmark competition when she took 1st Prize at the Bach International Piano Competition in Leipzig, granting her an instant reputation as an authority in the music of J.S. Bach - demonstrated here at the Classical Archives by several Bach recordings.

Following her victory in Leipzig, Ms. Nersisyan has gone on to win several prestigious competitions in Europe. She has performed in solo concerts and with numerous orchestras in France, Austria, Hungary, Finland, Japan, and Canada. Among the many festivals she has participated in include several that took place in Germany during the 1984-85 season, for the banner 300th Anniversary of Bach's birth. Her authority on Bach's music has led to her serving on music juries at several Bach competitions in Germany and elsewhere. Ms. Nersisyan's repertoire, moreover, extends beyond the Baroque, to include Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary works - as witnessed here at the Classical Archives.
